The new Astaro Command Center brings it all together

Central management tool offers optimised performance and expanded monitoring for all Astaro security appliances.

Reading, UK (11 September 2008) – Astaro AG, a leading vendor of security appliances, has released Version 1.9 of its central management solution, Astaro Command Center (ACC). The new version of this software, which is available free of charge, enables Astaro customers and partners, as well as managed service providers (MSP), to monitor and manage up to 250 Astaro Gateway appliances from a single, central point. The new release is based on the same system architecture as the established Astaro Security Gateway and offers far higher performance and greater scalability for larger environments, compared with its predecessor. Expanded monitoring and simplified administration complete the new Astaro Command Center.

Astaro Command Center’s sophisticated multi-client capability is especially beneficial for Astaro partners and managed security providers. Extensive monitoring functions make it convenient to centrally manage several customers’ security installations and their respective permissions. For example, the hardware components, network loads and running services of all connected gateway devices can be monitored from a central dashboard. Trend indicators enable administrators to predict how important system parameters will develop. The integration of Yahoo maps allows precise geographic location of all managed gateways. All monitoring data is available to the ACC administrator with a delay of only a few seconds.

ACC has also made a huge leap forward in terms of performance, using 80% less bandwidth for the exchange of gateway data than its predecessor, allowing for management of larger installations. Comprehensive authentication, logging and reporting functions, user authentication against Active Directory and eDirectory, and automatic sending of status reports round out the completely revamped Astaro Command Center.

Those familiar with Astaro Security Gateway or Astaro Web Gateway will quickly find themselves at home in the new Command Center as it now uses the same browser-based GUI.
