Comprehensive email security with simple management.
Reading, UK, 23rd September 2008 – Astaro Mail Gateway (AMG), the latest member of the Astaro security appliance family, is now available. The AMG, which combines comprehensive e-mail protection with ease of management, meets the email security needs of many small and medium-sized enterprises. To mark the launch, Astaro, a network security market leader, is introducing a special ‘Double Discount’ incentive programme for partners and resellers. From today through to 30th September, Astaro will award double discounts to the channel on all AMG appliances, subscriptions, and maintenance.
"SMEs, in particular, will benefit from the AMG, since they will now be able to protect email traffic just as effectively, simply, and quickly as large corporations. The AMG includes protection against viruses, spam, and phishing, as well as e-mail encryption and simple Active Directory / eDirectory integration," explained Walter Schuman, general manager and senior VP of sales EMEA at Astaro. “The expanded Astaro product family gives our partners the ability address diverse security requirements and appeal to a wide range of customers. With the launch of the AMG, and our ‘Double Discount’ programme, Astaro is well-positioned to attract further resellers to become partners."
In addition to industry-standard spam recognition technologies such as RBL lists, BATV and greylisting, the patented reputation-based filtering function now considerably bolsters spam recognition while eliminating false positives for personal e-mails. Dual virus scanners block both known and previously unknown malware and viruses in SMTP and POP3 e-mail traffic. This reduces the system's response time for new ‘in-the-wild’ viruses since the scanners each receive virus definition updates independently. Phishing attacks are also reliably controlled.
Email encryption ensures that confidential emails can no longer be accidentally sent as plaintext over the internet. Users retain full control over encryption processes, which run on the gateway and utilise recognised standards such as S/MIME, OpenPGP, and TLS. This makes it possible to scan encrypted e-mails for malware attachments and all. Thanks to the remote Exchange access feature, today's mobile users can utilise a secure SSL/VPN connection to access their Microsoft Exchange inbox with an Outlook client from any location, without needing a webmail client such as OWA.
The AMG also includes a web-based user portal that is available in 15 languages. The portal allows users to manage their individual spam quarantines and view the status of each individual e-mail. In combination with daily e-mail reports, the portal makes managing email securely considerably easier.
The features described here apply to the entire AMG product family, the AMG1000, AMG2000, AMG3000 and AMG4000. The AMG3000 and AMG4000 also provide active clustering, which dynamically balances loads between up to ten appliances.
