UTM vendor reports 60 per cent year-on-year sales growth and doubled number of channel partners.
London, 12th July 2007 – Astaro Corporation (www.astaro.co.uk), a leader in delivering unified threat management (UTM) security appliances, today announced accelerated sales growth in the UK. Astaro attributes its success to growing market acceptance of UTM and the launch of Astaro’s ASG v7 security product, which has created increased interest from the channel.
Shameem Ibrahim, sales director UK at Astaro, said, “With 60 per cent annual sales growth in the UK, Astaro’s success is accelerating. We are committed to a channel only sales strategy and have now increased the number of reseller relationships we have by 50 per cent over the year. To support our channel, we recently recruited Tim Eagles as UK channel sales manager and John Titmus to head technical and pre-sales.”
With the number and complexity of security threats continuing to increase, the benefits of UTM have established widespread market acceptance. One security appliance, rather than many, protecting organisation from all threats and managed through a single management interface, significantly reduces the overall cost of security. Astaro’s latest UTM software, Astaro Security Gateway version 7 (ASG v7), comes preloaded onto a range of hardware appliances and provides protection in over nine different security categories.
Anna Goss, UK channel manager at distributor Softek, commented, “Astaro is an easy product for resellers to explain to their customer base. Instead of the disruption caused integrating multiple separate point solutions into an IT environment and the large ongoing management burden, Astaro can be quickly implemented and provides a single simple management interface.”

All the new features are those that resellers have been asking for and that I would have chosen to include. In particular, SSL VPN and email encryption are very important developments. Version 7 is a major step forward for Astaro.”
Astaro currently has 1000 partners across the globe, with 700 based in the EMEA region. Astaro is exclusively distributed in the UK through Softek and Northamber. All of Astaro’s appliances contain the same ASG v7 security software. The ASG220 UTM appliance, which provides processing power suitable for small-medium enterprise use, is Astaro’s top seller.
